Most people don't believe me when I say how easy digital painting is. Its alot like using a real canvas, except everything can be undone at any moment, and you have more tools at your disposal. This beginners guide is great for those who have never attempted to draw on the computer. I began learning doing this same exact painting I re-create in the video, and yes, I too started in that simple paint program. If you want to make a truly spectacular painting, take your time and come back to it frequently to add more and more detail. Good luck and happy painting! Have fun and get creative!

Like everyone else, its been a busy holiday season for me, and this will be my last video for this year. I will be back in 2012 better than ever! Hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday, with a happy new year!

mini tutorial: Changing Hair Color (ft. Elle & Blair)

In this tutorial you'll learn how to change your hair color before going to the salon and making a mistake (oops!). You can also do it just for fun! Isn't it amazing what Photoshop can do!? I get requests to do tutorials more than anything, and I'm still practicing the art of tutorial making, trying to make an entertaining yet educating video. I hope this helps some of you experiment with your look! Congrats to Elle & Blair (Allthatglitters21 & Juicystar07) for truly turning Youtube beauty videos into a business. They made beautiful models for this tutorial! Hope you all like it and keep requesting what you want to see!

JennaMarbles: Youtube's SWEETHEART! (digital painting)

JennaMarbles is like no one else on Youtube with her blunt honesty and comedic rants on life. Even with her fowl language, she wins the title of Youtube's sweetheart! Shes most well known for her video showing the secrets on how to put on a "hot girl disguise". My original idea was to do my own parody of that by giving her a photoshop "ugly girl disguise", but I really try to avoid making anyone (especially a woman) look worse in the after than the before! Inspired by a short clip from one of her videos where she is playing with dangling keys, playing up the "dumb blonde" stereotype, I just had to make a digital painting! Including her adorable dogs was just extra fun, as I have been painting dogs long before I attempted humans. Overall it came out really well, and I feel the silly theme matches well with her personality. I hope Jenna likes it and I hope you all do too!

I thought so... thats why I made a new mini tutorial giving you all the basics to make your own animated gifs! Special congrats to Ray, currently YouTube's #1 most subscribed channel on his way to 5 million subscribers! That is quite the accomplishment! Look-A-Likes: Sandra Bullock and Mommytard!?

In this episode of Look-A-Likes, I alter a screenshot of Mommytard, a.k.a. Katilette, to resemble Sandra Bullock. They have always looked similar to me, especially when Sandras on the red carpet! Of course, Mommytard is alot younger so they look more like sisters than anything! As always, its a goal of mine to show the resemblance to the celebrity while still being recognizable as themselves. Katilette is such an energetic personality, which made it difficult to get a screenshot of her making a normal face (lol). I ended up using a picture from when she was pregnant, which made her face a little wider than were all used to seeing. Thus, I made a few corrections to her jawline, which didn't come out looking exactly realistic, but you can't win them all! Enjoy the transformation and, if you see a good YouTube look-a-like, let me know!

Mitchell Davis and Kyle Sibert are the men behind the channel livelavalive on YouTube. With videos full of friendship, fun, and audience interaction, they have captured the hearts of many with their quirky personalities. They have also inspired me to create yet another digital painting in their honor. Im also planning a tutorial soon on how you can begin your own digital painting artwork using the techniques I have learned over the years, so stay tuned for that! Look-A-Likes: Rosario Dawson and AndreasChoice!?

In this episode of Look-A-Likes, I alter AndreasChoice's hair and makeup to resemble Rosario Dawson. Even without the makeup, they naturally have similar features! They may not look like identical twins, but at least cousins. She looks like a younger version of Rosario! Its difficult to match the photos when the image quality is drastically different. Also, its always a goal of mine to show the resemblance to the celebrity while still being recognizable as themselves. Toby Turner is the next HUGE youtube breakout star! His Tobuscus channel is nonstop quotable comedy, his video gaming commentary is fun and relatable, plus his vlog channel ("audience?") is becoming a fad of its own. Super likeable, highly entertaining, and full of epic win. If you haven't got what im trying to say, this is the man to watch. This is the first time I made an animated gif for a video. DeStorm is one of the smoothest people on Youtube- without a doubt. He raps, he acts, he does super impressive workouts, he mingles with real celebrities, and always keeps his cool! But forget all that, what really makes him impressive is how inspirational his videos can be. DeStorm's creativity levels are way up in the clouds! That's exactly what inspired me to create this digital painting. I hope he likes it, and I hope all of you do too!

Look-A-Likes: Jessica Alba and DulceCandy87!?

Its easy to look at youtube beauty and fashion guru, dulcecandy87, and see a celebrity. With that said, she looks so much like a Kardashian sister it would be too easy! Perhaps not so easy to see is her resemblance to Jessica Alba, which leads me to my next Look-A-Likes video! I do want to mention the point of Look-A-Likes is not to give virtual plastic surgery! Sure I could alter her face completely and make them look like identical twins, but what were really going for is the overall resemblance that can be achieved by changing hair and makeup. HotforWords Comic Strip!!!

Hello my dear students! ...I mean... hey all! (that is fun to say lol)
Check out my newest photoshop project featuring Marina from the YouTube channel hotforwords! She has the most unique education videos, proving the phrase, "Intelligence Is Sexy!" I thought of this little joke for a comic strip, and knowing Marina's good sense of humor, I thought she might like it as well. Originally, I began to draw Marina from scratch, but it didn't have the cartoony-feel I was going for. Photoshop has a great filter called "Posterize" that helps create the effect I used in the final product. I think the end result came out pretty silly! What do you think? (don't forget to read it with a Russian accent!)

Ever wonder what you would look like with a different eye color? Wonder no more! Photoshop makes it easy to go from blue to brown and back again! In this tutorial featuring the lovely makeup guru, Tiffany, I show you exactly how I change eye color, fast! This is also a great way to make your eyes really stand out in photos! Look-A-Likes: Taylor Swift and Nanalew!?

While watching some of Nanalew's videos, I couldn't help but notice she resembled Taylor Swift! Even with the dark hair, I could see that they had similar facial features, so I decided to see what a few changes in photoshop could do! Im probably going to make "Look-A-Likes" a regular series if you all like the idea. I can already see alot of possibilities! One of the most difficult things to do is turn a brunette blonde, which is almost equally difficult in real life, you'll usually end up with orange hair! lol Looking back on the photo, I probably should of just pasted some actual Taylor hair on the photo, I'll keep that in mind for future Look-A-Likes. haha! Also, using a screenshot instead of a photo sacrifices some quality. Even though I made her look like Taylor Swift, she still mainly looks like herself, so overall, mission accomplished. Do you think she looks like Taylor Swift?

pogobat is READY for your TASK! (Dan 3.0)

When popular youtuber pogobat announced he was going to let us control his life through a decision engine, it seemed crazy, impossible, and certainly groundbreaking! Its been a short journey so far, but Dan Brown has assured us his project "Dan 3.0" will continue on and become even more of an adventure! So all we can do now is watch and see what happens! (and if you don't like it, there's still a great video of him solving a rubix cube while on a pogo stick!)
